چکیده

QBI in 162 directions (b=4500 s/mm2). In panel a), colors encode principal sheet direction and both techniques show good qualitative agreement. However, closer inspection of the SNDFs shows intravoxel sheet crossing which cannot be resolved with conventional DTI. Panel b) illustrates this for the framed voxel from a), where the DTI sheet normal direction lies in between two distinct sheet populations whose normal directions appear as two local maxima of the SNDF. Figure 1: As the ODF describes fiber orientation (left), the SNDF reflects underlying sheet geometry (right). Color denotes local maxima (red) and minima (blue). Dual Q-ball imaging reveals intravoxel orientation distribution functions for laminar structures in the heart.

Reconstruction of the orientation distribution function in single- and multiple-shell q-ball imaging within constant solid angle.

q-Ball imaging is a high-angular-resolution diffusion imaging technique that has been proven very successful in resolving multiple intravoxel fiber orientations in MR images. The standard computation of the orientation distribution function (the probability of diffusion in a given direction) from q-ball data uses linear radial projection, neglecting the change in the volume element along each d...

ACCURATE ODF RECONSTRUCTION IN Q-BALL IMAGING By

Introduction: Q-ball imaging (Tuch 2004) is a high angular resolution diffusion MR imaging technique proven successful in resolving multiple intravoxel fiber orientations. Standard computations of the orientation distribution function (ODF, the probability of diffusion in a given direction) from q-ball use radial projections and do not consider the solid angle, resulting in distributions differ...

Q-ball imaging.

Magnetic resonance diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) provides a powerful tool for mapping neural histoarchitecture in vivo. However, DTI can only resolve a single fiber orientation within each imaging voxel due to the constraints of the tensor model. For example, DTI cannot resolve fibers crossing, bending, or twisting within an individual voxel. Intravoxel fiber crossing can be resolved using q-s...

Q-ball reconstruction of multimodal fiber orientations using the spherical harmonic basis.

Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) accurately delineates white matter pathways when the Gaussian model of diffusion is valid. However, DTI yields erroneous results when diffusion takes on a more complex distribution, as is the case in the brain when fiber tracts cross. High angular resolution diffusion imaging (HARDI) overcomes this limitation of DTI by more fully characterizing the angular depende...
